Are You Living “Beside Yourself” or Beside God?

Are You Living “Beside Yourself” or Beside God?

And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. (Acts 26:24 KJV)

Festus was claiming that Paul was deranged, or had come unhinged.  To Festus, Paul’s actions seemed maddening and he even went a step further to blame his much learning as the root cause of his crazy actions.

Feeding one’s intelligence with higher learning should broaden one’s ...

Hatred Does Not Frustrate or Foil God’s Plans

Hatred Does Not Frustrate or Foil God’s Plans

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. (Genesis 37:5 KJV)

God gave Joseph a special spiritual gift.  Joseph had the ability of prophecy through interpreting dreams.

The invisible wall separating Joseph and his brothers widened even further upon Joseph’s reception of this supernatural ability divinely coming to rest on his life.  Joseph’s gift was unusual and highly important and therefore caused, even ...

Mark and Avoid Purveyors of Wayward Doctrine

Mark and Avoid Purveyors of Wayward Doctrine

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. (Romans 16:17-18 KJV)

Is it ever okay to turn your back towards anyone desperately in need of a personal relationship with God?

Yes, ...

Impacting The Lives of Others with Love

But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? (1 John 3:17 KJV)

Pause for a moment to contemplate upon the profound love and tenderness of heart God has shown to you as well as other brothers and sisters in Christ.

God’s bowels of compassion are unconditionally poured out for our every need.  God’s ...

Truth is Present in Every Circumstance

Truth is Present in every Circumstance

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes. (Proverbs 29:13 KJV)

God has given each person equal opportunity to be born.  Every person, whether they be found among rich or poor surroundings, started out their physical life as a tiny infant.

Not only does mankind start out life the same birthing process but all are afforded more than one opportunity to both see and hear the Truth of God.  ...

God Changed His Mind About Mankind

God Changed His Mind About Mankind

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:5-6 KJV)

The utter wickedness of mankind grieves the heart of God.

Evil was so great in these ancient biblical times that God changed His mind about ...

God Discards Polluted Offerings

God Discards Polluted Offerings

Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. (Malachi 1:7 KJV)

The Bible does not specifically notate how this bread was polluted.  Shewbread typically was a bread made without leaven.  Perhaps it was made with leaven, or not offered by the priests in a reverent manner, or perhaps offered insincerely and with disrespect.

This verse makes me think about ...

Real Love Comes from God

Real Love Comes from God

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (Romans 13:10 KJV)

The love of God has many dimensions and applications.

It is never exhausted or wanes.

It has been available since the beginning of time.

God’s love is perfect and is designed to treat others perfectly.

God’s love corrects and redirects, seeks to do good to one’s neighbor, it implores mankind to live in the image of God.  If man truly loved ...

By The Sweat of His Brow

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In ...

Where is the love of God in Calvinism? Part 3

Where is the love of God in Calvinism?

Calvin:  Politician and Persecutor

As has been sufficiently demonstrated in the previous two articles, Calvin borrowed much of his theology from the “Father of Roman Catholic Theology,” Augustine.  Through Augustine, Calvin became persuaded of the need to establish the Kingdom of God on earth.  When he rose to power in Geneva, Switzerland, Calvin desired to build God’s kingdom through political maneuvering and persecution—methods approved by Augustine and practiced by Rome.

The Despotism of Geneva

Calvin sought ...
