And the Door Was Shut
Matthew 25:8-10 (KJB) And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Yes, God shut the door.
Remember when the rain began to fall, and God shut the door of the ark? Only those people who were ready at that time were able to come and find shelter inside the ark.
The situation is the same here, only those who were ready could enter into the marriage. This was not a common wedding union, as we are familiar with taking place on this earth, but an eternal divine joining or ceremony.
It is an eternal spiritual union between God and His people. It is a ceremony that each person has received an invitation to, but not every person will choose to attend. It is a marriage celebration meant for each of us to take part in but not every person will accept the invitation before God shuts the door.
Yes, one day soon, God will slam the door shut and bring an end to any person receiving an invitation to this final wedding ceremony. Each of us must be ready to attend the ceremony having an unlimited supply of the oil of the Holy Spirit at work in our heart. If we do not have His Spirit on board our heart the door will be slammed in our face leaving us outside the parameters of a relationship with Him.
