Are You Skating on Thin Ice?
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 KJV)
There are both godly and ungodly relationships and leaders at work in this world.
Paul is giving compelling reasons for mankind to seek godly relationships.
He is also encouraging us to honor those in authority over us rather than choosing to despise and deride them. God has a hand in directing those who reside as authority figures over us and they remain answerable to him for their leadership, as we do about our respect for authority God has placed over us.
Paul is highlighting the truth that wherever God has planted us we can choose to grow and flourish and spiritually benefit as we align ourselves in fellowship with Him.
Forming an alliance with those whose agenda includes the darkness of satan is to choose to tread upon spiritual “thin ice.” Sooner or later the man of God who connects himself together with ungodly authority will fall through thin ice.
