Avoid Dark Pitfalls
Luke 21:34-36 (KJB) And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Yes! That slippery slope of sin falls in only one direction and that is always down and far away from the holiness and perfection of God. Choosing even one seemingly small sin can lead to a copious amount of sinful behavior. Once the god of this world has man snared in a sin it is easier and easier to get him to make more and more choices to commit even sin. Pleasure upon pleasure builds up in his flesh and before long mankind becomes buried in the sinful desires of his flesh rather than finding eternal joy in things of God.
The spiritual man must pray fervently to God and remain sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5:8). He must be careful to watch and listen as he sojourns in this world otherwise it is easy for him to fall prey into a spiritual trap by choosing to follow the whims of his fleshly nature rather than giving heed to things of God.
