Do You Major or Minor in Separating from Evil?
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. (Romans 16:17-19 KJV)
There will always be people who major in advancing unscriptural doctrine while others minor in advancing God’s Word, or fail altogether to serve God in any capacity. Those who Parlay false doctrine can be found serving and sitting in the pews of God’s church as well as spreading their own brand of “spiritual funk” religiously attending to wayward souls at the devil’s fence in this world.
God is very clear here in this verse:
“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them…”
God appeals, or implores, His own spiritual children to mark, or call out, and avoid at any cost those who are hard at work spreading false doctrine not aligned with Truth of God’s Word. Why? Because false doctrine serves god’s own dark and wicked spiritual agenda in this world all for attempting to suppress the power of God’s Truth. Those who are not acquainted God’s Word or those not intimately heart familiar with its teaching will naturally falter and fumble when presented with the lies of the god of this world.
False doctrine serves to confuse and spiritually paralyze wayward men preventing them from understanding and serving God. Consciously separating from evil and publically persuading others with scripture to do the same, on the other hand, serves to reveal the wicked nature of satan’s brand of darkness. This public revealing highlights the Truth and supernatural power of God at work in softened hearts of mankind.
The power and presence of God makes man keenly aware, through the prodding of conscious, of the evil and darkness at work in this world. Separation, or parting from that which is proven to be evil grows and matures regenerate man in the grace and knowledge of God.
