(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV)
These verses clearly substantiate that anyone who has been quickened alive unto new spiritual life while alive on this earth will immediately be ushered into the glorious presence of God in the eternal realm upon succumbing to his physical death.
These verses discount the belief in something called soul sleep, or of a place of waiting or “in limbo,” or a place named purgatory. The spiritual presence of God’s family arriving in heaven is instantaneous. There is no such thing as a “heavenly arena” where souls go for an interval before arriving and personally meeting with God in the heavenly realm.
Paul was inspired by God to assure believers about what would happen upon their physical death. Therefore, regenerated mankind can face the thought of their own physical death with peace and confidence knowing that the instant they succumb to death they will arrive in the presence of God in the eternal realm.
