Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14 KJV)

The human body is an incredible human machine.  Our physical body was uniquely created by the loving hand of God with many complex feats of nature housed inside a simple tent of flesh.  The pathophysiology of our human body is a constant miracle which continually performs vital functions twenty-four hours a day every day and often under the influence of many stressors and at times amid harsh environments.

Our bodies are both precise and complex. The structure of organs, systems, cellular structure, soft tissue, and a sturdy frame of over two hundred bones were all created to work orchestrating natural symmetry, thereby maintaining and preserving the quantity and quality of physical life, according to the will of God for each individual.

God is ultimately the one who is in control both creation of life and onset of death.  When one or more of our organs or systems falls to function, rises above its normal range or does not maintain natural balance, our bodies immediately begin to compensate by shunting blood to major areas by forgoing circulation to lesser areas like appendages and limbs and redirecting vital life-bringing fluid to organs and bodily functions as necessary for preserving life.  If this natural process or lifeline fails and the body cannot preserve itself in this manner then shock sets into the body quickly, ushering certain death, if no other outside treatment, fluid, and medicine is introduced into the weakened and traumatized system.  During a health crisis or traumatic injury our body tries Self-preservation immediately to maintain stability and prolong life.

When in proper health, our bodies maintain constant analogous baseline vitals, customary organ and cellular function, appropriate fluid levels, and a PH balance that is necessary for maintaining healthy robust life.  The human body must sustain proper levels of calcium, salt, and potassium for proper heart function and vital balance of fluids to maintain proper blood pressure, and blood volume to carry vital oxygen, nutrition for cells, and carry waste away, for all areas of our circulation system including major areas like the heart, brain, limbs, and organs.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7 KJV)

It is hard to imagine or wrap our minds around the fact that our intricately working bodies were simply created from dust and formed into being by the loving hands of God and given the breath of life.  Yes, our bodies do have the same chemical property as dust, as verified by Science.  The breath of life all mankind has been “kissed” with is vital oxygen which is processed through the lungs, sustaining man’s life through internal pressure changes and precise movement of this precious air flow through the lungs and heart and eventually pumped out to the entire body system through highly defined mechanics including a “state of art” electrical system in the heart.  It is a known fact that without the circulation of blood carrying vital oxygen, man’s fragile body begins the shutdown process immediately, with brain death in as little as four minutes, followed quickly by physical death of the entire body without any outside medical intervention in these fading moments of human life.

Not only does mankind have an incredibly fashioned body, or physical tent, outwardly upon this earth but God marvelously created man threefold; as a body, soul, and spirit; or a trichotomy.  God has always existed since the beginning of time in three holy equal parts: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Mankind was created by God also in three unique parts having a dark and evil nature on board from birth, in contrast to existing eternal perfection and holiness as God has since the beginning of time.  Man’s spiritual nature from birth is naturally dark. Physically he is put together limb by limb by the hand of God and has a dark, dead, and wicked soul buried in the inner depths of his heart.  It is only when God is personally invited to take up residence in a regenerated man’s heart that mankind goes from naturally dead to spiritually alive in his heart as he sojourns in this world.  His eternal future is secure.  One day soon he will leave behind all the decaying and dead things in this world to live in fellowship with God for all eternity.

A regenerated heart values God, viewing sin as God sees it, and chooses to live according to God’s will bringing Him honor and glory now and for all eternity.

Man has made many inroads and discoveries of the mechanics, function, and preservation of human life over the centuries as God has providentially allowed.  However, man does not understand all that there is to know about his physical body, let alone understand all aspects of his existence as a  trichotomy, a threefold union of body, soul, and spirit.

Though man can help to identify health issues and preserve and maintain robust physical health on this earth through discoveries, treatment, medicines, and procedures God ultimately controls the timing of his life and death.
