From Grief to Eternal Joy
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. (John 16:20 KJV)
Jesus Christ knew that His disciples and followers would mourn His death. He knew that most did not fully comprehend all the spiritual implications of His short life and subsequent agonizing death on the cross. He knew His disciples they would grieve for Him as the world cheered His death. Every person would more clearly understand all the implications of His supernatural birth, physical death, burial, and resurrection after the events had taken place.
Jesus knew that His disciple’s mourning would turn to great joy on the other side of His resurrection. Great fear would penetrate into the hearts of those who were celebrating what appeared to be His demise on the cross.
We have been privileged to be born at a time on this earth when we can look at God and His Son Jesus Christ from the backside of the cross. Every prophecy has been revealed and His work at Calvary is finished, and God gave us His Word.
All these things took place before we were physically and spiritually born.
