God Discards Polluted Offerings
Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. (Malachi 1:7 KJV)
The Bible does not specifically notate how this bread was polluted. Shewbread typically was a bread made without leaven. Perhaps it was made with leaven, or not offered by the priests in a reverent manner, or perhaps offered insincerely and with disrespect.
This verse makes me think about the offerings Cain and Abel placed before God. One offering was acceptable while the other was not and was instantly rejected by God.
Both situations have one thing in common. When God rejected the offering made by the priest in this verse and the offer made by Cain recorded in the book of Genesis both instances were met with a sour attitude by those individuals as they held God’s rejection of their offering in contempt.
Disrespect in submitting and serving God is an attitude problem of the heart. Giving an unacceptable offering along with having a sore and sour attitude about His rejection is never acceptable to God.
