God Gives Doctrine and Instruction
Proverbs 4:1-2 (KJB) Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. 2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
God always has the best spiritual intentions for your life and mine. Sometimes any instruction may seem unnecessary or a waste of our time. However, if God is behind them, they are what is best for you and me.
In this Proverb, God is using Solomon to reiterate the importance of a child listening to his father. Just like an earthly child needs to attend to what his father desires to teach him. A man or woman of God must choose to pay close attention to what God is instructing, where He is leading them, and choose to apply it to their life.
Someone once said, “You can lead a horse to water but you cannot force him to drink it.”
God will never direct a person into spiritual danger or give him instructions which are not pertinent to his situation at hand. In fact, God has the best spiritual health in heart and mind both in store for you and I as we sojourn in this world and forevermore in the eternal realm.
