God Promotes Growth
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (Isaiah 58:11 KJV)
This scripture verse uses an analogy of agriculture and plant growth familiar to many both in biblical times and today to illustrate God’s direction and spiritual growth in His spiritual family.
First, this verse imparts that the Lord will direct man’s steps. Not just offering His guidance once, on an occasion, or even often, but that He will guide the regenerated man continually. That means that God is forever walking beside the quickened alive man’s side offering uninterrupted guidance. It is like having a “spiritual GPS” system attached at the hip as man walks along the narrow way. However, man must choose to plug into His supernatural power source each day to receive His uninterrupted directions.
Secondly, this verse teaches that God guides in both the lean and “spiritually fat” times of life. Not only does He offer direction but will impart continued spiritual growth and maturity. ThiIt is like watering a garden consistently in a season of drought yielding a banner crop of produce.
