God’s Eyes Cannot Look Upon Evil and Wickedness
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? (Habakkuk 1:13 KJV)
God is perfect and pure. His eyes are unadulterated. He is not able to look upon evil. God is entirely separated from evil and darkness found flourishing in this world. This biblical truth is something that many who profess to know God today do not understand. God cannot have anything to do with darkness as God is wholly light.
Those who profess a relationship with God have always been called to be set aside for God to use. Therefore, they have no business trying to mix the light of God together with the darkness and evil of this world. This means that the majority of so-called entertainment and fashion spewing out of the television, internet, movies, books, and other media sources is not fit for the person of God to view or absorb into his mind. It means lives of selfishness, idolatry, and other ungodly traits create a huge wall of separation between man and God rather than a spiritual canyon or parting between light of God and the darkness of this world.
The prophet Habakkuk understood, in the context of this scripture verse, that there was much ungodliness in his ancient era in this world. He agreed with God that things which were pleasing and palatable in this world were wicked, sinful, and a “spiritual black eye” to the righteous and holiness of God.
Therefore, Habakkuk desired to be separated unto God rather than aligned together with the god of this world.
