God’s Presence Brings Life
Hosea 4:1-3 (KJB) Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. 3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
The Prophet Hosea cried out to Israel with a heartfelt desire for the Jewish people to hear the words of God. God was in spiritual disagreement with Israel because they chose not to harken unto His words. There was no presence of God alive and working in their land. Their land was spiritually destitute.
The presence of swearing, lying, stealing, adultery, and murder was apparent and present working in their land. However, things of God were noticeably missing altogether. The spiritual climate of their land was stark, dark, and dreary.
So dreary, in fact, that even the crops, animals, and fish were in severe decline or had disappeared altogether.
The people were mourning.
The land was mourning.
The animals were absent
God was absent.
