He Is Of Age
John 9:23 (KJB) Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
This scripture verse is interesting indeed! These parents were inundated with questions concerning their son’s new ability to see by religious zealots. These bigoted men were poking and prodding and trying to intimidate his parents into answering exactly how this blind son came to now being able to see.
This should have been a joyous time for them along with their son to celebrate his newly received vision. However, “the life of this party” was quickly sucked out by these few men who desired to cause trouble and bully his parents into being afraid to answer about his vision for fear that they could be removed as members from the synagogue.
Instead, the parents told these men to ask their son, who was of age or now considered by them to be an adult. Leaving the questions concerning his newly found vision up to him to respond. They were afraid to get involved quickly laying the situation back into their son’s lap, rather than taking any “religious heat” themselves for a situation they had no idea or desire how to begin to explain.
These religious and pious zealots had no interest in hearing any truths of Jesus Christ, or in celebrating this young man’s new sight. They were overly concerned with who exactly this powerful man Jesus Christ was and pushed to declare Him a sinner rather than a heavenly saint.
