His Unpretentious Birth
Luke 2:15-16 (KJB) And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Imagine this lovely scene playing right before your eyes and ears if you had been a shepherd working in the fields this spiritually eventful day as God sent a message through His angels about the birth of Jesus.
The shepherds had been supernaturally given the word about a newly born child just born in Bethlehem. They began their trek loaded with special gifts to see meet this special child for themselves. The Bible does not give much information about the journey of the shepherd’s other than this royal child would be found in Bethlehem.
We do not know for sure the length of time it took to arrive in Bethlehem but we do know that the shepherds traveled with haste to arrive there finding Him in the manger. This likely sight must have spoken volumes to these shepherds about Jesus’s humble beginning. He was found in meager surroundings rather than in a royal and ornate palace as Kings would have been found to be born into this world.
