Holy Apothecary Oil for Anointing
Exodus 30:25 (KJB) And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
Moses was instructed by God to mix a holy ointment. The purpose of this oil was to physically anoint the tabernacle and the head of the priests. This was an oil meant for preserving and promoting life. It was an olive oil based concoction with the addition of biblical plant-based medicines, spices, and herbs.
This medical oil was used to set apart or separate, the priests for holy service to God. These men were specifically meant for fulfilling God’s divine purpose. These priests were not worldly like the common men of their day but had received a unique and holy purpose and were expected to serve as a priest desiring to satisfy the will of God at work in their life.
For an ancient priest, set aside for the purposes of God, to opt for doing a “spiritual about-face” choosing to follow their own will and way, rather than the way of God would mean certain eviction from their camp and likely to meet with his own death at the wrath of God because of his choice to sin.
Today a man or woman who genuinely professes a personal relationship with God is also spiritually anointed or set aside for God’s divine purpose and will for his or her life. A spiritually disobedient man or woman will certainly face consequences for choosing to sin against God, but will not face a permanent death and separation from God, because of the finished work of Calvary.
