Honor and Worship God
Nehemiah 8:5-6 (KJB) And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up: 6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
The prophet Nehemiah and his people displayed much reverence for the Word of God. The moment this scroll was unwound and open before God the people they stood in honor and worship of Him. Not only were they standing, but they were praising Him and saying Amen! Lifting their hands in awe to God as they bowed their heads with their faces to the ground in humbleness before God.
This kind of scene mentioned in these verses above rarely happens in our churches for bringing God glory and honor today.
In most congregations, you will find people sitting, often preoccupied with their phone, others about them, or a wandering mind, as the Word of God is introduced to their ears. The demeanor found among these people is often found to be one of having folded arms and with an aura of disinterest as a man of God tries to instill precepts and commandments of God into their hearts and minds.
May you humble yourself before God always whether it be in a church, in your home, or as you are out and about in this world. Praise God for the sincere men and women who desire to stand and worship God with a genuine heart which leans towards hearing, honoring, and obeying His Word!
