How Often Do You Trip Over Your Own Tongue?
James 3:7-8 (KJB) For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
The tongue is a weapon which cannot be managed and tamed by a man, rather it often “trips” or tangles him up. It naturally yields a wild and unruly flame that burns into the depths of the soul of a man laying bare the heart of a man. Even a man who has been quickened alive has a lifetime of issues and potential problems with the spiritual integrity of his tongue.
Your tongue is capable of wielding either praises or poison. A tongue can be primed to lead a man closer to God or send him astray into the darkness at work in this world. A tongue either flows with life or reveals a darkness of desperation and certain death.
A man can successfully tame many kinds of creatures through grit and perseverance; however, he cannot tame his own unruly tongue. Even when applying a dogged determination, his tongue spews malicious darkness and evil continually without a curb or restraint.
