In One Accord in Gibeah
Judges 20:8 (KJB) And all the people arose as one man, saying, We will not any of us go to his tent, neither will we any of us turn into his house.
The leadership of this ancient nation stood in one accord being united together in the belief that they must hold the wicked inhabitants of Gibeah responsible for their utter wickedness. The life of a concubine, belonging to a wayward Benjamite, was tragically abused and cut short by the lewd actions of these men.
This Benjamite man wasted no time in getting his nation’s attention using blunt and physically gregarious means. Attention his actions did garner from many concerned residents. Shortly thereafter, a “marching order” was given in conjunction with seeking the will of God, in dealing of this evil matter.
When mankind sits back and remains silent evil lingers and multiplies. This evil had been left to simmer and fester making it past the proper time to defend God and their country against evil forces. The men listened unto God and gathered their forces for the battle at hand.
Wicked circumstances in Gibeah were overlooked for a great length of time. This allowed the evil proliferating from a handful of men to burgeon out of control.
Dark forces were governing the atmosphere and circumstances in this ancient city and a plethora of sin, including gross sexual sins became the acceptable, rather than detestable, to its inhabitants. God was about to lead His people in ridding this filth out of the land!
