Like Clouds Without Water
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; (Jude 12 KJV)
This twelfth verse of Jude is speaking of those who are offering spiritual teaching without substance of Truth. Their teaching is false and lacking spiritual fortitude. This teaching is compared to clouds in the sky which lack water. These clouds are wispy and wave about the sky following wherever any wind carries them. Clouds that have water residing within them are heavy and foreboding, foretelling of a coming storm, as they linger in the horizon.
Just like the wispy clouds, false teaching lacks a biblical foundation. An anchor, as water weight found in cumulus clouds which makes them stick around in the sky as thick dark curtains. So is the teaching of God in this world; weighty and thick and filled with Truth of His Word.
