Not a “spiritual Pep Rally”
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJB) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
God is not looking for a “spiritual pep rally” or a simple outward show of allegiance to Him. He is looking for sincerely humbled men and women of God who are tired of living a spiritually wayward life whose hearts desire to return home and to be of valuable eternal service to Him. God is looking for prodigal sons and daughters who are willing and eager to live according to His will, rather than according to their own desires, as they sojourn in this world.
Only sincere repentance proceeds genuine revival of hearts. It is not enough to say “we will change.” Or “we want to change.” Or “I know I need to change.” Lasting spiritual change manifests itself in godly actions and the making of a useful and consecrated vessel of service to God.
