Paul’s Advice for The Rich
1 Timothy 6:17-19 (KJB) Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Paul was speaking to the hearts of men who were financially and materially well off in this world. Often these kinds of riches get in the way of having a personal relationship with God. It is always easier to trust in something that is tangible, of which you can hold in your hand, rather than placing trust in something you can only hear about but cannot see.
Many uninformed or spiritually ignorant people choose to place their trust in earthly riches rather than in things of God. They spend their lives on this earth working for things that will never matter in eternity.
The presence of earthly riches can temporarily appease the spiritually hungry heart of man while he is alive in this world. However, when it comes to eternity, no earthly riches or works will follow a man to heaven. This leaves many who “bought into” temporary pleasures on this earth eternally miserable and spiritually stranded left without any earthly treasures or sweet fellowship with God for all eternity.
Don’t be “Spiritually Stranded” and destined for hell upon your physical death in this world. Place your trust in God and serve Him with spiritual works which will pay dividends both on this earth and forever in the eternal realm.
