Pleasant to The Eyes but Troubling to The Heart
Genesis 3:6 (KJB) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
I am sure you are aware of many things that are pleasing and pleasant to the eyes but dreadful to the heart of a man.
Eve is a prime biblical example of a person who ended up being spiritually wayward because she chose to follow her natural eyes rather than keeping her vision aligned with God. God will never steer a man or woman of God to walk in the wrong direction. It is always a man who chooses to take a wrong turn in life.
Eve desired to have the knowledge and wisdom of God but was willing to veer off the narrow pathway to find it in her own way rather than along God’s rewarding pathway. Any fruit a man finds along his own pathway is self-serving and sour. Only the fruit found placed divinely along God’s path leads to an eternal home in fellowship with God forevermore.
