Position and Disposition
Romans 8:1-2 (KJB) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
This verse examines both the spiritual position and walk of a godly man.
Having a position in Christ is to have a supernatural spiritual indwelling and sanctification of God. This can only happen by God’s work of Salvation which takes place in a man’s softened heart.
A walk with God is choosing to live a life centered upon things of God (Galatians 2:20). A godly life agrees with God and brings Him glory and honor. Hostility towards the holiness of God always brings dishonor to man.
Living in agreement with God creates a godly Disposition or godly nature at work inside a man. Cultivating this nature is driven by man’s choices. A man’s choices either feeds his new godly nature or feeds his natural flesh. Walking after the Spirit of God, rather than his wicked flesh, matures and develops godly character mirroring Christ-likeness.
A walk with God will always bear the spiritual freedom and fruit of salvation. A walk with the god of this world will always bear evil and wickedness. Therefore, a wicked man will naturally condemn himself while a spiritual man’s fruit will validate his salvation in God’s evaluation.
