Proven By Fire
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (KJB) Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Just because a man or woman professes to know God does not necessarily mean they possess a spiritual relationship with Him. Talk is often cheap and his works will be proven by the span of time and their spiritual quality revealed by fire.
Fire refines and proves the tenacity of spiritual work. The Bible tells us that any weak and worldly based work, such as hay and straw, will definitely be totally consumed by fire (1 Corinthians 3:12-14). While those things forged in a sturdy eternal foundation of God, rocks, silver, and gold, will pass through the fire, remaining eternally strong and sturdy, thereby receiving a reward.
Works of a child of God which are consumed by the fire will be lost forever. They will have no eternal benefit, but the person will be saved. He or she will come through intense fire, but barely.
The work of an individual who chooses to exist without a relationship with God will be consumed. The lost person will be tossed into the fires of hell for all eternity and judged for his sin and exist in eternal agony (Mark 9:43-44).
