Sin Quickly Stifles and Burdens
Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: (Isaiah 5:18 KJV)
Many people are dragging around excess baggage while trying hard to live the Christian life. This often leads man to live a weak and ineffective spiritual life at best. It can also cause some to wrongly proclaim they personally know God but in reality, have only been intellectually introduced to Him and never changed in their heart.
Sin suffocates and physically stifles mankind. It is like having a strong cord wrapped snuggly around the neck. Sin smothers, shuts off, or restricts a meaningful spiritual relationship, communication can be cut off, and this further complicates relationships between God and man. God’s message gets choked and suppressed as the bold and clever plan of the god of this world easily rises to the top filtering easily into the hearts and minds of spiritually wayward, drowsy and unsuspecting people.
Many lives are caught up in a heap of ugly consequences.
Man becomes stuck pulling the heavy weight of his sin behind him. He tries to reach ahead to a new future but is spiritually limited by the consequences of yesterday.
It is never God holding him back in the confines of his past; man often fails to give his dark past over to the working of the supernatural power of God.
