Sour and Self-Serving
Philippians 2:14-15 (KJB) Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.
Murmuring and complaining seems to be “the operating norm” in this world. Individuals choosing to live according to the measuring stick of the god of this world are never satisfied with where they are at or where they are found in this world. They often resort to being testy and irritable with others, about their circumstances, and display ungratefulness towards God.
Only God can fill the vacuum which naturally exists in every person’s heart.
The child of God understands that he or she would have nothing, be nothing, or do nothing without the influence of God upon his life and in this world (John 1:1-3).
God’s spiritual family should be leading others with their spiritual light and eternal joy and satisfaction wherever their lot is found in this life. However, even Christians can be spiritually sour and self-serving rather than being joyful in the Lord.
Today, February 14th, marks the world’s celebration of love on Valentine’s Day. Many individuals muster up love towards their spouse, significant other, and family on this particular day. Let’s determine as professing Christians to make the love of God shine forth today, every day, and in every circumstance of life.
