Be a man!

Be a man!

1 Kings 2:1-2 (KJB)   Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,  2 I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man.

King David spoke to his son Solomon in his old age as he was nearing death urging Solomon to be a man!

True men seem to be in short supply these days as many are choosing the way ...

God’s Unlimited Blessing

God’s Unlimited Blessing

Psalm 37:25-26 (KJB)   I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.  26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.

David was looking in the rear-view mirror as his past unraveled before his eyes.  He could see the faithfulness of God who always provided just what was needed whenever a need arose.  David could always count on the providence of God, ...

Like A Broken Vessel

Like A Broken Vessel

Psalm 31:12 (KJB)   I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

A broken vessel is not of use as it was originally intended.

This verse, recorded by David, implies he felt his life was over, was not valuable, and was like a broken bottle not good for anything.

Perhaps David felt he would be better off dead because he was not useable for anything.

Likely you and I have felt worthless ...

Sin Creates a Slippery Slope

Sin Creates a Slippery Slope

Psalm 26:1 (KJB)   A Psalm of David. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

David was so sure of his spiritual standing with God he sought out for God to judge his life.  David knew that he had remained on the narrow path of God choosing not to slid down the “slippery slope” of sin and shame because he ...

Thou Art Mine

Thou Art Mine

Psalm 22:10 (KJB)   I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.

David reminded God that He had been his God since he was formed.  God had created him in His own fashion and brought Him forth into this world.

God did the same thing for every human being that includes you and I.  God formed us and knew us before we were born on this earth!  He alone is our ...

Headed in the Right Direction

1 Kings 15:3-5 (KJB)   And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.  4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:  5 Because David did that which was right in ...

His Heritage Revealed

Isaiah 11:1 (KJB)   And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

The Prophet Isaiah announced heritage of the coming King.  Isaiah noted that His ancestry would be rooted in the lineage of King David.  This was an important revelation.  It would give the newborn King a right to proclaim a royal pedigree.

Ancestry was highly noted and important in ancient biblical times.  Men were ...

God’s Music is Refreshing

1 Samuel 16:23 (KJB)   And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Take a moment to consider the power of music as described in this verse.  David played music which caused an evil spirit to depart.  Think of the power which was at work here in ...

Float Instead of Sink

Psalm 3:2-3 (KJB)   Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.  3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

David is surrounded by trouble.  It seemed obvious to those near him that there is nothing that could alter the wayward direction his life.  Or keep him safe and secure and upright in the middle of this ...

David Asked God for The Motherlode!

September 24th, 2016

David Asked God for The Motherlode!

Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant. (Psalm 143:10-12 KJV)

What a prayer by David to God!

David did not just ...
