John 8:58 (KJB)   Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

I am.

Two simple sounding words, but they are portly and supernaturally powerful.

The statement Jesus is making is that he has always been since the beginning, before the patriarch Abraham, and always present.  I am is spoken in the present tense because God has no past tense.  He was present in His deity before creation, is present today, and will always ...
