Spiritual Pain Relief

Psalm 51:8 (KJB)   Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

David was inspired to record this verse in lamenting about the pain of his own sin.  He was spiritually busy beseeching God about removing the uncomfortable nature of his sin.  David recognized his brokenness before God.  He understood that only God could places the spiritually scattered pieces of him back together again.

Perhaps this sin had been fun for ...

Joyfully Walking

Joyfully Walking

Psalm 89:15 (KJB)   Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

Certainly, both knowing God and walking in His ways are familiar with having joy.  Joy is a heart attitude which is overflowing in the man and woman of God.  This joy is so profound that it cannot remain dormant inside their heart.  It works its way outside to permeate the atmosphere about them.

Those individuals who ...

A Clear Conscious Joyfully Serves God

2 Corinthians 1:12 (KJB)   For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

There is much joy and rejoicing among those who are able to entertain a clear conscious before God.  Nothing makes the heart of man sing louder than one who has confessed ...

Eternal Mirth Comes Through a Broken Spirit

Eternal Mirth Comes Through a Broken Spirit

Proverbs 15:13 (KJB)   A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Sorrow of the heart is not pleasant but is a spiritual necessity.

A broken spirit erupts and diffuses self-will giving way for God’s perfect will.

Mourning about sin conveys a desire for new spiritual life.

A merry heart can only come through the presence of God at work in a softened heart.

A person’s heart either has ...

Magnifying God

Magnifying God

Luke 1:46-47 (KJB)   And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,  47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Surely Mary did not understand all that was happening in her and through her life.  However, she chose to glorify and magnify God anyways.  Mary was rejoicing in the fact that God was going to use her, a woman of humble means, to bring about His plan for this world.

Mary chose to trust and rejoice in ...

Heavily Burdened or Bursting with Joy

Heavily Burdened or Bursting with Joy

Proverbs 12:25 (KJB)   Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Bearing the weight of sin is spiritually agonizing and physically painful.  It causes one of two possible reactions in every man.  He either crawls on his knees towards God.  Or he suppresses the truth and hurriedly crawls away from things of God.

One direction increases his pain while the other releases his distress and discomfort ushering ...

From Grief to Eternal Joy

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. (John 16:20 KJV)

Jesus Christ knew that His disciples and followers would mourn His death.  He knew that most did not fully comprehend all the spiritual implications of His short life and subsequent agonizing death on the cross.  He knew His disciples they would grieve ...

Genuine Joy, Peace, and Hope Only Come from God

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (Romans 15:13 KJV)

Hope and faith bundled with joy are essential in living Christ-like.  Being down in the dumps or “out of sorts” is not a place for professing Christians to dwell.  Gloominess should be only a temporary situation, or short-lived spiritual season in ...

The god of This World is a Thief

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)

The god of this world is a thief who desires to steal our spiritual joy and destroy our livelihood.  His wish for all mankind is that they exist spiritually dead both in this world and for all eternity.  His ...

Naomi Went From Joy To Bitterness

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. (Ruth 1:20 KJV)

The “she” in this scripture verse is Naomi.  She was acknowledging the recent difficulties in her life had come from the hand of God.  She understood that God had dealt bitterly with her.  Recent events had left a mark on her life, causing her to desire to be called Mara ...
