Earthly riches will not stand forever.
Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. (Proverbs 23:4-5 KJV)
Worldly wisdom motivates man from a perspective which operates in enmity to the things of God. God desires that we labor upon this earth with an eternal perspective rather than operating in conjunction with earthly fashion and desires.
Mankind often orchestrates his own plans often according to financial concerns centered in this world. God calls man to look beyond earthly riches and treasures and aiming towards those things which are of eternal value. God does not operate according to a Wall Street economy but rather godly eternal values. Riches which last for eternity are based upon a heavenly accrual system building upon the things of God not upon fleeting the things of man.
Riches of this world will not last. They are fleeting; here today and gone tomorrow. Things of an eternal value will last; now and for all eternity. The world’s treasures will melt away in fire as the ways of the world will come to a screeching halt as the earth is burned up in a consuming fire.
