Take Up Your Cross August 23rd 2015

Is your flesh alive or dead in this world?

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. (1 Corinthians 5:4-5 KJV)

Paul called upon the Spirit of God to supernaturally deliver the physical soul of a person over to the hands of satan for the saving power of Jesus Christ for his spiritual deliverance.  This may seem extreme or an impossible spiritual act, one that Jesus would never resort to.  After all we serve a God who is a God of love and peace.  Why would God through Paul choose to turn a soul over to satan for such harsh treatment?

God does hand over lost souls to satan as a last resort.  It is for the person’s own spiritual good.  We do serve a God of love.  He loves mankind so much that He desires to do what is best for changing the ill spiritual condition of man’s darkened heart.  If a person continually chooses to wallow in his sin, be unrepentant, have no desire to follow the holiness and spiritual essence of God, then God has no other choice but to give his or her soul over to satan as a last ditch effort in bringing about sweet salvation to their darkened soul.

Sometimes a person is so utterly wicked God must resort to such a strong measure in bringing about the destruction of their fleshly nature and evil desires at the hand of satan or usher in utter spiritual and physical destruction without remorse from lost souls who, by their own choice, will spend eternity in Hell for refusing to have a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
