Are you spiritually fat?
There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. (Proverbs 11:24-25 KJV)
Those individuals who give to others through giving of their finances, time, and means to God openhandedly find that God liberally multiplies back many blessings in return. Nobody can ever out give the generosity of God. His economy does not run on the same financial fuel that drives the Wall Street economy. God’s economy runs on love, mercy, and grace.
There is an equal but opposite reaction to employing generous giving and that is begrudgingly giving what God has entrusted to us for the purpose of stewarding it to others in need. Those who tend to hold onto tightly, or remain close fisted, clutching onto what they have been given will likely always view their giving through a “glass half empty” caricature, leading man to be stingy and uncommitted towards those in need according to the will of God for their life. Lack of generosity can stop the circle of blessing from flowing towards others, is an offense to the mercy and providence of God, and stunts or stifles our own spiritual growth, never filling our own glass to overflowing capacity.
