In the image of man
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: (Genesis 5:3 KJV)
According to Genesis chapter one Adam, the first man created, was made in the image of the three parts or in the image of the whole triune of God who was since the beginning of time; body, soul, and spirit.
The Bible says “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….” It was clearly a difference in the creation of Adam in the beginning of creation than later when Adam’s son was created.
The scripture verse says:
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26 KJV)
The Bible tells us Adam’s son was created after His image (after Adam’s image); but the Bible tells us in when Adam was created he was made in the image of God.
Do you have any idea why there was a change in the image of the creation of man from God to man? One word can answer this; Sin. There was no sin on this earth when Adam was created and he was created in perfection like God.
When Adam’s son was created sin had already been introduced upon this earth in the Garden of Eden and was flourishing upon this earth. Seth was therefore created in an imperfect world by Adam and Eve and was made in the image of man because of sin. Seth was born into sin and with a sin nature just like every other man, including me and you.
Man could not be made in the image of God because He cannot be joined together with anything having a nature of sin. God is perfect and holy and without sin.
Did you know that you were born in the image of man with an innate sinful nature and natural propensity to sin? Only God can cover or atone for your sin nature by His shed blood upon the cross giving you a new spiritual nature through faith in His finished work upon the cross.
