Are you living foolishly despising authority and rules; or are you spiritually prudent; open to godly guidelines and holy commandments?
A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. (Proverbs 15:5 KJV)
Godly parents don’t always produce Godly children but man should never give up trying to set an example before them of godliness. Every child is a new adventure as each child’s personal response to God is as different as night and day. Some will embrace putting on godly characteristics in their life; others will choose to follow the way of rebellion against things of God.
You can insist on obedience to the rules of your house and follow through with expecting obedience; but parents cannot insist their children wear God’s holiness. You can make them do right but you cannot make them be right in spiritual standing with God.
If you take a trip down memory lane into your own childhood you quickly must admit you did not always line up in obedience to what God desired in your life; and secondly what your parents expected from you. However, some children accept correction and redirection unto godliness from the authority of God and parents; while others rebel against authority in their childhood and on into adulthood from God and any authority figure they must face in life.
Some will learn the eternal value of submission later in life while others never learn always living foolishly in a spiritual danger zone; especially if they never come to a humble place of entering into a personal relationship with God through faith; seeing themselves as God sees them while upon this earth.
Those who allow an attitude of submission to flavor their life will learn from their trials and trouble humbly submit to correction and direction, precepts, and commandments from a holy and righteous God.
