Have you been spiritually crippled so God can bless you?
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. (Genesis 32:24-25 KJV)
God will do whatever necessary to break the will of an individual. God took upon Himself a human form to wrestle with Jacob. Through this all night wrestling session Jacob was not aware of whom he was wrestling with until the morning light broke.
Jacob now had a crippling dependence, a permanent limp as his hip was wrested out of joint. Jacob had fought against the things of God. He was not willing to lose his taste for the things of the world until God physically wrestled with him going the distance with Jacob all night. As morning broke Jacob saw that it was God who had sparred with him.
The truth is God faces many wrestling matches. I bet He had to wrestle with you; I know He faced me in a match up that was supernaturally one sided in His favor. We like to hold on tightly to things of this world and hold the things of God off in the distance not willing to place Him in first place in our life.
However, placing God first is a key ingredient in living in a successful spiritual relationship with Him. God will not accept second place in your life. He will place you in a spiritual desert, on the back forty, or will wrestle and spar with you in the valley until you realize your need of Him.
