Take Up Your Cross January 23rd 2015

Whose power and strength are you living in upon this earth?

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:19-20 KJV)

God gives those who are dwelling in His spiritual family access to His supernatural power according to His will.  Serpents and scorpions in this scripture verse are reference to those individuals who choose to dwell in wickedness and evil according to the limited power of the darkness of this world.  There are many serpents and scorpions living in this world in enmity to the things of God aligned up with the darkness and evil of this world.

But God gives His spiritual family supernatural power over all enemies as He works in us and through us guiding us as we dwell closely in a spiritual relationship in Him.  He also gives us supernatural protection as many enemies surround us in the spiritual realm.

God gives us many promises we can hold onto in times of intense spiritual warfare that we can hold onto and expect to surround us in His great mercy while sojourning in this earthly realm:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:3-4 KJV)

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39 KJV)

God never promised us that living on this earth would be a continual bed of roses and leisure but rather more than once told us to expect briars and thorns along the narrow pathway as we sojourn upon this earth.  He promises to remain faithful to us no matter what circumstance we face; pleasant or adverse, as sojourn upon this earth.

Are you dwelling closely with God as you walk among thorns and briars in the darkness upon this earth sojourning in His power, peace, and strength?
