Is your physical body ill unto death or spiritually alive unto life forever?
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. (Isaiah 1:5-6 KJV)
Isaiah was inspired by God to write this book to of the audience of the nation of Judah. This book was meant to warn them of God’s impending captivity and judgment upon their lives. The nation of Judah flatly ignored this book filled with poetic and prophetic warnings from Isaiah about God and the people continued to live in the darkness and evil of this world instead unto the things of a holy God.
Not only was this book written to warn the ancient biblical nation of Judah but it is relevant for the times we live in today. There are many people who are living as they please ignoring the coming Day of Judgment when all mankind will bow before God.
Many are living in bondage to their sin nature captive to the schemes and beguiling of the god of this world. Just like in the ancient nation of Judah. In this scripture Isaiah compares living in bondage as a physical sickness overtaking the body complete with a sick head, a faint spiritual heart condition and sickness wracking the whole body from the feet to the head; leaving a person without a mind operating soundly for the things of God. Instead of operating soundly for the Lord the natural man has wounds, bruises, and sores outwardly that are rotten and oozing with signs of infection and spiritual rot from within. This description fits many who are either spiritually ill; or dead in sin without remedy now or for all eternity.
We know that God promises his own spiritual family a soundness of mind:
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)
God’s spiritual family lives upon this earth bearing the life of Jesus in their earthly flesh even as some are riddled with disease outwardly upon their flesh but their spiritual heart has been filled with abundant eternal life:
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. (2 Corinthians 4:10-11 KJV)
Are you operating in this world according to the supernatural health of an eternal relationship with God through faith; or spiritually ill and circling the drain upon this earth and an impending eternal future without God forever?
