Do you swallow the whole Truth of God or nibble on lies of this world?
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (Ephesians 4:14-15 KJV)
Lies often seem lovable when we desire to protect somebody from the hurtfulness of truth. The reality is lies are based upon hate and disregard rather than true love. God desires what is best for mankind and His Truth works through love to illuminate that which is true in each man’s life.
Truth is often hard to face and hard to deal with. It often leaves man with a picture of Himself that is not lovely or desirable. Many may choose to turn away from it being unable to consume and digest it choosing rather to suppress or ignore it. Electing rather to live according to the more pleasing and palatable lies of the god of this world. The devil’s lies are much easier to swallow; often going down like honey rather than sticking in the throat like truth can.
God leaves it up to each one individually to decide what to do with the Truth of His Word. Man can chew on the truths contained in His Word and decide through his own free will to reject it, spitting it out flatly refusing to feast upon His Word at all; like Pilate and Judas. Or mankind can select to devour His Word dining upon hidden treasures and delicious delicacies buried below the surface of His Word spiritually growing and maturing into the fullness of God through faith in a personal relationship with Him.
