Does your profession of God match your inner heart condition?
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:7-9 KJV)
Jesus called this group of worshipping lightweight’s hypocrites. They professed to know God in their speech but their lackluster spiritual agenda from their heart was not according to God’s Word but following after beliefs and doctrine of man rather than the Truth of the Bible. Their profession of a relationship with Him was spoken shallowly and meaningless now and in light of eternity.
God knows the inner condition of each man’s heart and whether he is spiritually ill in this world or eternally healthy filled with hope seeing beyond life upon this earth. He knows when speech lines up with the condition of the heart and when words are spoken awry.
Just as many godly men prophesied in biblical text like Isaiah, mentioned in the beginning of this verse, about men who carry an outward appearance of an established personal relationship with God but inwardly are far removed from having any spiritual connection and quickening alive to Him in their heart.
