Striving together in unity with other believers brings honor and glory to God.
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; (Philippians 1:27 KJV)
Paul is speaking to saved brothers and sisters in Christ in the Philippian Church. He is exhorting them to carry out their conversation in such a manner to bring honor and glory to God. Any other manner which stands in opposition to Christ brings reproach and division to the body of believers.
Paul desires his brethren in this church will encourage and uplift one another through conversation which is pleasing to God but knowing that if this church or any other promote an atmosphere which is not pleasing to God he would likely hear of it, whether he saw or heard it from firsthand experience, or heard from others. Paul also understood that God would certainly be apprised of any unbecoming atmosphere in His church.
This same admonition is applied to believers busy working today, working according to the purposes and will of God, bearing fruit and bringing Him all the honor and glory as they take on His tasks at hand in this world.
God’s church in this world is to be the icing on the spiritual cake bringing honor and glory to God as they sow seed of the gospel, encouraging other believers, binding them together in spiritual unity as they tackle God’s work in the fields of this world.
