Do you serve many strange gods or follow after righteousness of God?
For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. (2 Chronicles 14:3-5 KJV)
Asa sought to rid Judah of the Idolatry which was polluting it and causing this land to be teeming with sin and dysfunctional lacking spiritual order. There was strange gods or idols that were lifted up in place of God. They were polluting and infecting the hearts, minds, and actions of the people who resided there. Idolatry always has an adverse spiritual effect on every life it touches. Judah was suffering greatly from the evil influence of idolatry left to flourish there.
Asa had determined that the land of Judah would seek after things of God not maintaining this false worship and hope erroneously placed in false gods. God had given mankind the law and commandments through Moses but man had cast it aside to follow after their own wicked and adulterous ways, living in opposition to the holiness and righteousness of God.
