The voice of God summons mankind’s immediate attention and reverence.
The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. (Psalm 29:3-4 KJV)
The Bible tells us more than once the voice of the Lord sounds like booming thunder or as the sound of great rushing waters. Likely mankind has experienced at least one of these sounds: the booming of pronounced thunder or the sound of rushing water flowing with great force in a river and can personally relate to what it might be like to hear His voice.
The voice of God ringing out in ancient biblical history stopped mankind abruptly in his tracks as the Bible has recorded many such powerful events. Not only is the sound of His voice unique, but it is powerful and demanding, consuming the attention of anyone in the vicinity often causing those who hear Him to fall to the ground in humble reverence and in awe of His striking verbal presence.
