Has God given your life a spiritual pruning?
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. (John 15:2 KJV)
Most people have some experience in pruning flowering bushes or shrubs. Many varieties have certain times or seasons that are specifically for trimming back or pruning coinciding with its natural growing cycle. Trimming out of season may hinder a bush from growing or blossoms from blooming in the expected cycle or natural time frame. Trimming within the natural growth cycle brings a bountiful crop of foliage and blossoms as the bush fills out thicker and fuller in new growth from being purged.
God prunes and purges the branches of His spiritual family. He prunes those branches which are stagnant or stunted in their growth not producing new fruit thereby laying new seeds to flourish in a spiritual reproduction process producing a more fruitful harvest for His glory and honor.
We have all been pruned and purged at some point in our spiritual life as we begin to wither and wear out in our spiritual fruit production. God prods us by removing any weeds that have gotten in our way preventing us from bearing precious fruit for His honor and glory. He purges areas of our life so we can bear a bountiful harvest of fruit.
