The law of God is not restricting but spiritually freeing.
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; (1 Timothy 1:8 KJV)
The law was given for man’s own good and not for harm and was meant to provide correction and direction in mankind’s naturally wayward life. The law from God provides a perfect backdrop for man to measure himself against, yet man cannot attain or achieve perfect fulfillment of the law in and of our own selves.
Only God can fulfill the law perfectly Himself and when residing within our heart.
The law was not given for the purpose of clobbering a wayward man over the head with, or to brow beat man into lawfully living, but to provide an example of lawful living to follow or imitate in our own life. Nobody can follow the law to the letter but it can be used to shine upon the lawlessness man has fermenting in his own life pointing to the perfection of God which stands out in contrast to the light of the law.
The perfection of God is shown through the law just as mankind’s flaws are highlighted through His law.
