Does Jesus want you to cast on the right side?
Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. (John 21:5-6 KJV)
You and I are always on Jesus’s mind. He yearns to provide for us and knows exactly what we need even before we ask of Him. He can supply our every need as we choose to look unto Him in faith according to His will for our lives. However, man often chooses to look in the opposite direction or to other sources for provision. Only God can provide that spiritual balm which satisfies now and for eternity; all other sources are fleeting; never bringing about lasting peace and comfort but temporary solace at best.
Today many chose to look elsewhere for their needs. They look to their government to provide them with necessities: food stamps, medical care, a monthly allowance or monetary assistance of some sort, and possible guidance in finding a job or higher education. Government programs are based upon a system of man and not necessarily corresponding with the spiritual way and will of God.
God tells us in the book of Proverbs a man must work to provide for himself and his family. This indicates we must not make a mad dash to stand in line for handouts but rather choose to step out in faith in God that He will provide for our needs as we align our lives into obedience according to His will for our life. God does have a perfect will for each one of us which includes His perfect provision for our life.
Others often choose to turn first to healthcare professionals, lawyers, teachers, the government, and other professionals or organizations for emotional support and provision of needs. Turning to any of these may supply needs but none of these individuals or organizations can bring about relief or permanent answers to needs of a spiritual nature. Only placing faith in God will bring about spiritual peace and joy to our lives and bring about fulfillment of all our needs to overflowing according to His rich grace and mercy upon us according to His will as nothing is too hard for Him to accomplish in our life.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (Ephesians 3:20 KJV)
The fishermen on this boat were hard workers. They had fished all night working to support their needs but without any fish filling their nets. They were tired and disappointed and heading back to the shore empty handed and downcast in the situation at hand.
But God, He made a big difference for them as they allowed Him to lead and work in their lives:
He directed them to move their net to the right side of the ship. These fishermen were willing to follow and obey whatever Jesus commanded them. Casting according to His will on the right hand side the fishermen brought up their net which was overflowing with fish, making this night of fishing close with abounding success according to God’s plan.
