Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:3-4 KJV)
Are you enlisted in God’s victorious spiritual army?
Most, if not all people, who have served their country as a soldier have faced a battle in enemy territory one time or another in their military career. When people enlist in the military it is understood that most will face multiple battles against the enemy as a part of their chosen military career.
Battles are imminent for the Christian soldier who has enlisted in God’s army through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ upon Calvary choosing therefore to dwell in God’s spiritual army. God never promises mankind he can sit at rest peacefully along the sidelines of a spiritual life but rather clearly indicates anyone enlisted in His army will face uphill spiritual battles against the enemy, often facing skirmishes and wars for prolonged periods of time in desert conditions.
Being a Christian soldier is not for spiritual wimps but for those hardened soldiers who are willing to endure hardship and persecution for the long haul. Some people lightly profess a heartfelt belief in God but fail to live up to what they have declared both inwardly and outwardly. Those soldiers who have a personal relationship with God putting their faith into action prove what they have professed with their mouth by bearing precious fruit pleasing to God. Those who have spoken lightly, professing a relationship with God, but choosing outwardly serve the god of this world will produce a harvest of spoiled rotten fruit attracting flies and gnats rather than drawing pleasure and praises from God.
Are you busy battling in the supernatural power and strength of God’s spiritual army? Or harvesting rotten fruit from the sidelines of life aligned together with the losing camp of the god of this world?
