The coming of a Saviour had been foretold for generations as written in the Bible. Numbers 24:17 (KJB) “ I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.” When the wise men saw the star, they decided to follow it to see the newborn King.
The Godhead is the true and living God. 1 John 5:7 (KJB) “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
John 1:1 (KJB) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” In the beginning, the Word already was. Or, when the beginning began, the Word already was. Verse 14 below makes it clear in what sense John used it. No question is left that “the Word” is none other than Jesus Christ.
John 1:3 (KJB) “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
John 1:14 (KJB) “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” The eternally pre-existent Word of God voluntarily took upon Himself a human body. The fact he dwelt among them adds force to the testimony of the disciples. They lived with Him and from personal experience knew Him well. That is a powerful testimony.
About 700 years before His birth Isaiah prophesied about the birth of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 7:14 (KJB) “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” The great prophecy of the virgin birth of the Messiah was foretold.
Matthew 1:23 (KJB) “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
John 3:16 (KJB) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 14:6 (KJB) “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Romans 5:8 (KJB) “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 10:13 (KJB) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
