The Proof Is In The Pudding
Matthew 11:16-19 (KJB) But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. 18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. 19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
It is true that proof is always found among results because the whole conclusion of a matter is always the sum of its parts.
Jesus was speaking to critics who found fault both in Him and in His ways. Jesus understood that there was nothing He could do which would be considered upright in their eyes because they would always remain critical of Him.
Jesus told his detractors this was the same “nit picking spiritual atmosphere” John was subjected to before Him. John was ridiculed and misunderstood and murdered because he dared to speak the truth and call sin out, even bold flagrant sin against notable people.
Jesus was perfect, spoke the truth, and was willing to lay His life down for the spiritual benefit of all mankind.
Jesus went willingly to the cross at Calvary.
Barbs and accusations of their critics could not stick to the lives of either Jesus or John because these men were filled with the Spirit of Truth which always stands eternally tall against any assaults and persecutions at work in this world.
The lives of both these men had a fragrant aroma of God and an indelible testimony of righteousness. Their fruits flowed outward personally touching many lives leaving proof positive of eternal charisma.
Today is April Fool’s Day. This day is celebrated by foolish people hoodwinked by the whiles god of this world. The man and woman of God choose to live a wise life are filled with the timeless truths of God’s Word.
