The Vine is Essential
John 15:6 (KJB) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
I cannot overstate the obvious- the vine of a plant is central to its continued life. If branches or stems of a plant are removed or trying to exist outside of its central vine they will certainly quickly fade and wither away. The vine sends and receives important nutrients and life-quenching water which is essential to continued life and growth.
A horticulture technique of grafting a new branch into an existing vine possible in many varieties of plants and trees bringing a new and fruitful life to a branch which otherwise is cast away unto certain death.
Being grafted into the eternally alive vine of God is essential for having the presence of the supernatural power at work in the heart of a Gentile Christian. God is The vine for both Jews and Gentiles (Romans 1:16).
God’s spiritual presence is necessary for mankind to receive eternal life and bear perpetual spiritual fruit. Otherwise, man is cast away from fellowship with God facing certain spiritual death for all eternity.
